To locate occurrences of different minerals in various parts of the State, Geological Surveys are carried out initially, this is followed by drilling with a view to assess the mineral resources of the area.
The information so generated by Directorate is useful for setting up of mineral based industries and for proper exploration of mineral wealth of the State.
As result of exploration work reserves to the tune of 7474.084 MT of minerals like Coal, Limestone, Bauxite, Iron ore, Kyanite - Sillimanite etc. have been estimated by the Directorate in the State so far.
The directorate has carried out survey and exploration work in the state of Maharashtra and has prepared 316 reports.
